The Global Car Group Inspection Quality Standards Below is the Global Car Group Standard. All cars are inspected by the RAC against this standard. The description of goods offered, includes any comments or deviations from the Global Car Group Standard made by; the RAC, The Global Car Group or third party in the vehicle listing. Body & Interior Report External Body & Paintwork will be viewed from 1 meter away with the vehicle at ground level. Body: Any previous body repairs should have been repaired professionally. Any variance is reported. Previous repairs which are obvious due to mismatch of colour or misalignment/ poor fit of the panels to be reported. Minor dents (up to 10mm) are acceptable provided the paint surface has not been penetrated. Panels displaying more than one minor dent per panel are to be reported. Missing or faulty trims or badges are to be reported. Paintwork: Small areas of stone chipping, door edge chipping and light scratches up to 25mm which have not penetrated through to the base metal with no deterioration present are acceptable relative to the vehicle’s age and mileage. Any others over this will be reported. Stone chips that have been touched in and do not detract from the general appearance are acceptable. Any that do not fit these criteria will be reported. Exterior paintwork abrasions up to 25mm are acceptable subject to there being no more than one per panel Any abrasions over this will be reported. Bumpers and rubbing strips may show some minor scuffs up to 25mm but must not be broken, loose, deformed or cracked. If any do not meet this standard will be reported. Rear bumper in a load area may have light scratches/ scuffs consistent with age and mileage. Any marks over this will be reported. Window Glass: Front Screen Cracks/ damage or chips over 2.5mm within the driver’s sight line are not acceptable and will be reported. Chips outside of driver’s line that are over 2.5mm will be reported. Minor stone chips less than 2.5mm outside the drivers line that are not deemed MOT Failures are accepted as wear and tear. Light scratching around the periphery of the screen is accepted as fair wear and tear. Any further marking will be reported. Other Glass Light scratching consistent with age and miles fair wear and tear is acceptable. Any further marking will be reported Lamp Glasses/Lens: All, headlamps or plastic covers must be free of holes and cracks and secure. Minor scuff marks or scratches are acceptable. A correctly repaired lens is acceptable as long as meets MOT standards. Anything outside of these parameters will be reported. Interior Trim: Must be clean consistent with age and mileage and be free from tears, permanent marks, holes. Anything outside of this criteria will be reported The luggage area may have scuffs and blemishes that reflect normal use but the floor coverings and trims should not be torn, holed due to damage or split., Anything outside of this criteria will be reported. Wear in carpets, upholstery and trim excessive to the age and mileage will be reported. Repair to seat covers is acceptable as long and completed to an acceptable standard and not clearly visible. If not acceptable standard it will be reported. All interior lights must work. Controls: All original controls must be intact and work correctly. Holes left by the removal of electrical equipment should be plugged. Air-conditioning operation should be checked and temperature tested. If any of the above does not comply then they will be reported. Mechanical Report Underside: Inspection of the underside will be carried out to ensure no major damage or distortion to chassis components exists. Minor dents and deformation, such as stone damage, are acceptable as long as they have not caused major corrosion. Anything outside of this criteria will be reported. Exhaust System: The system should be properly suspended, not fouling bodywork, free from leakage and excessive corrosion. Anything outside of these criteria will be reported. Oil Leaks: Minor misting or dampness around seals or gaskets is acceptable providing drips are not present. Anything outside of this criteria will be reported. Wheels and Wheel Rims: All wheels must run true and not be bent or buckled. Steel wheels must not have rim damage and be fitted with wheel embellishers, which must be intact with only minor scuffing being allowable. Alloy wheels may have scuffing marks and or corrosion consistent with age and mileage. If not reported. Spare wheel, any locking wheel nuts and toolkit to be present. If not reported. Anything outside of these criteria will be reported. Tyre Wear and Damage: All tyres including the spare must be in a legal condition, complying with vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. No obvious damage to treads or sidewalls caused by kerbing. Anything outside of this criteria will be reported Perishing to tread or sidewalls must be reported and MOT expectations noted. Keys and Locks: All keys/ locks/ remotes must operate correctly. Anything outside of this criteria will be reported. Warning lights: Any visible warning lights that highlight an electrical defect must be reported. Mechanical Condition: Operating controls work correctly with a positive feel. Hand brake action should be smooth with no excessive movement in the lever and the ratchet should operate correctly. All lights must work. Radios/DVD/cassette players must be fully functional. Heating controls, air conditioning, fans and electric windows/mirrors must work correctly. Under bonnet checks: Check all levels must be correct, note condition of the oil if able to check, no oil and water leaks. Engine must start and operate and perform as normal. Suspension bushes, joints and covers to be of MOT standard. Anything outside of these criteria will be reported. Road Test: Engine performance/ noise/ excess smoke/ overheating evidence Gearbox operation / noise level Final drive operation / noise level Clutch operation Cooling fan operation Foot and hand brakes should not suffer from excessive travel and should work efficiently. Instrument / controls function General steering / handling Suspensions / noises Anything outside of these criteria will be reported.
